This morning Christi Carmichael and I wandered around the Flamingo area. In addition to seeing most of the species posted by Christi last week, we were able to add:

Pectoral Sandpipers (about 6)
Short-billed Dowitchers (about 8)
Black Terns (2)
Swallow-tailed Kites (6)

The eradication of Brazilian Pepper in the area has made it easy to see seasonal pools, which have been good for shorebirds. The terns and kites were seen at Eco Pond (still closed, but you can view it from the pullout).

Mosquitoes have picked up a bit since last week, but they're still pretty tolerable. It's nice to drive around Flamingo, since you don't have to contend with traffic. It's nice and quiet down here.
