I was at Crandon for a beach day on Saturday 8/17, and despite the number of beach-goers and the tide rising, saw a fair amount of shorebirds. I saw some semi-palm plovers, r. turnstones, least terns, one sandwich tern, lesser-black backed and herring juveniles, and a bunch of sandpipers that I am having trouble identifying. I think they are either sanderlings or semi-palm, but could be western, although the bill didn't seem downturned at the tip. They were bland gray-colored, and I do not know my shorebirds well enough. Any idea what they are? Have you been by there lately? Thanks.
