Once again, I'm looking to all you wise and observant ones ;) for some historical information. Today (8/12) there was a Pied-billed Grebe with her second chick of the season and a Black-bellied Whistling Duck with a very fresh bunch of ducklings seen at Green Cay Wetlands - Delray/Boynton Beach.
I know the the grebes are listed as breeding locally, but I've never seen it before this year, and ditto for the ducks - they have come and gone regularly but without producing any broods that I have seen.
Do these birds regularly breed here (have I been blind or unlucky all these years)?
