Not expecting much, I went by Cutler Wetlands and found exactly what I expected: one Greater Yellowlegs. The surrounding areas had nothing. I decided I wasn't done yet, so I headed to mount trashmore and parked at Gate C along 97th Ave. A quick scan with the binocs quickly showed MANY shorebirds, so I scanned with the scope. I ended up with the following:
Semipalmated Plover (~200)
Killdeer (didn't count)
B-N Stilt (~20)
Willet (1)
Greater Yellowlegs (a few)
Lesser Yellowlegs (a few more)
Solitary Sandpiper (2, but not together!)
Ruddy Turnstone (40)
Semipalmated Sandpiper (~100)
Western Sandpiper (~50)
Least Sandpiper (~100)
Pectoral Sandpiper (40)
SB Dowitcher (1 probable)
LB Dowithcer (3)
Stilt Sandpiper (4)
Didn't see any interesting gulls, but did see a very pale, calling Cockatiel. Last week I had two on separate occasions, so we may have yet ANOTHER exotic parrot type running around down here. I bet they get listed before Common Myna does.
