Audubon's shearwater at Biscayne NP visitor center a couple days ago

Whoops sorry I meant to post this a couple of days ago. I think it happened Tuesday. Park employees were alerted and managed to catch an exhausted Audubon's shearwater at the grassy area in front of the visitor center. The bird then perked up and flew away before they could take it to the wild bird rehab center in the Keys. It was pretty surprising to us. We hope the bird made it OK. The majority of birds we've been seeing lately are the starlings gorging on the fruiting strangler fig. OK to be fair there are a couple of mockingbirds eating it too but they don't sing as loud.
