The reason I brought this up is that I talked to the guy in charge (Matt Price, or something like that) and they are definitely not intending to be lenient on birders. They supposedly have a rent-a-cop there on weekends. He said that they are afraid that birders might fall into the out-in-the-open pumps and be turned into birder sausage and sue them...yada..yada..yada.

: I'm not really sure what to say. I know I've been out there with my own car on the week-end or after work and never been stopped. I went in since the north gate wasn't (still isn't?) efficient (trails on both sides). So I've been around. I heard that they were going to but rocks on the sides of it.
: If by feet, I think that it is possible from the bridge on the canal behind Homestead General Airport (access along north fence). Then walk along the west of the canal and take the levee that sticks out of the canal (were the pump station is). Look on south side but all around too. It is shorter than Snake Bight trail for those shorebirds lovers who walk down there.
: I don't think walking would get to any ticketting our trouble. I don't see any other way (the north gate is further that the bridge I think, even thought birding is nice next to it too).
: Not very helpful but that's all I can say.
: Hope you can make it.
