Got a brief look at a Wilson's or Band-rumped this morning about halfway between Matheson Hammock and Soldier Key. Lots of Sargassum in the Bay. I'm leaning towards Band-rumped but will never know for sure.
Last week there was a gorgeous flock of 20 or so Sooty Terns flying just West of Boca Grande Key, West of Key West. Pelagics from a small, shallow water skiff are always much appreciated (although a friend was just telling me of a group that kayaks to the Dry Tortugas every year, an even better view!).
Sorry to hear about Bob Kelley, it was always nice to read his accounts that would reference sightings in the Everglades 40 years ago. And God knows Miami can't bear to lose a conservationist.
