Blue Jay/ Squirrel Question

Does anyone know if Blue Jays and/or Squirrels will rob a nestbox? As I've mentioned previously, Starlings took over my nestbox. A week or so after hatching the babies and parents suddenly disappeared. Do they leave the nest that soon? A few years ago a Blue Jay robbed a baby from a Mourning Dove nest in my yard. But would Jays or Squirrels actually go inside a nestbox to steal babies? If so, I don't want the same results if a family of Red Bellied Woodpeckers were to move in.
