Toe and I wanted to go and check the fields on the way to ENP for shorebirds.
We were able to locate 6-8 Upland Sandpipers, Black bellied Plovers and Killdeer
in the location that Mark Faherty posted yesterday. We drove up Aero-jet Rd. and
saw White-eyed Vireo, Flickers, a pair of Great Crested Flycatchers, a pair of
Yellow-billed Cuckoos, a few barn swallows, Grackles, RWBBs, Blue Grey
Gnatcatchers and that was about it. We walked around Lucky Hammock with out any
thing interesting.

I mentioned to Toe that I heard the lease on the use of the land by farmers
around Lucky Hammock had run out and they weren't going to be working the land
any longer. It is already overgrown with exotics, like castor bean. The area is
going to be a mess if something isn't done soon.

We went into the park and saw several Swallow-tailed Kites and that was about
it there.

On our way back home were planning to stop at Cutler wetland but before we
got there we passed the dump and saw a pond with shore birds just behind a large
mound. We stopped and saw a Black Tern working over the water. We decided to try
and get permission to get a better look at the area and some photos. After about
45 minutes waiting to speak with a supervisor, we obtained permission to drive
around the pond and bird. We didn't relocate the Black tern and I didn't get
photos, but we did find hundreds of shorebirds and many hundreds more gulls.

I'm sure I missed a few things, but Toe can reply with any additions.
