We start to see migrating gnatcatchers moving through south Florida at this time of July. In August they are moving through in pretty large numbers. They will start departing north in late winter and are usually all gone in March.
They do breed in south Florida, but the birds that have been reported so far the last week or two seem to be migrants, including yours.
