Looks like Bronzed Cowbird numbers are on the rise here in south Florida! I was walking back from a friends house about twenty minutes ago and heard an unfamiliar call. It was a yound bird begging, but what was it? Then I saw a Spot-breasted Oriole fly off the ground (a first for me) followed by a cowbird species.
It flew up just above my head and landed in an oak, where I got to study it. No red eye yet, but based on bill shape and the fact that Brown-headed juveniles are very light, I called Bronzed.
I have also been hearing a couple gnatcatchers, and two Screech-owls were seen together in Miami Shores last night, with another different one two nights before that.
