Two days of trail work by the naturalist staff in Arch Creek and Greynolds Parks has provided an opportunity to observe what new birds are around. Today we observed numerous Blue-gray Gnatcatchers, several Black & White Warblers, Prairie Warblers and an American Redstart. A pair of Red-shouldered Hawks have set up house keeping in Arch Creek and the nearby Enchanted Forest Parks (possibly the same pair from the past two years). We were equally thrilled to see how the Greynolds Park rookery is being used more consistently as a roost. This evening over 300 White Ibis were counted plus anhingas, green herons, Great blues, and several Tri-colored herons. Maybe nesting activity next year will be the next step in the revitilization of this resource.
