Shortly after I arrived at Everglades Holiday Park (Griffin Road west of US 27) yesterday morning a small flock of Semipalmated Plovers flew over the parking area heading south. A little later I heard repeated high pitched Peet-weet notes that sounded like a Solitary Sandpiper passing high overhead but I wasn t able to spot the bird. Earlier last week I received a report of a probable Louisiana Waterthrush at H. T. Birch State Park.

Purple Martins are still using the roost in front of the Race Trac gas station on the west side of Davie Road between I-595 and Nova Drive. Perhaps due to the fair weather they didn t begin arriving in large numbers until about 8:20 this evening but were swooping down around the roosting trees by 8:35. I ve submitted information about this roost to the Project Martin Roost website and it should show up in a week or so.

Earlier this afternoon a drive down the south side of the Ft. Lauderdale International Airport Perimeter Road turned up an Ani perched on the fence above the Cocoplum hedge.
