After much debate, photo analysis, and expert input, we can confidently say our bird, sighted July 3rd off Miami, was definitely a Red-billed Tropicbird. My lack of experience with these birds caused some doubt on my part as to the identity, but I have since learned much about what to look for, and all of us appreciate the vast amount of input we've received from folks from all parts of the country (FL, CA, NC, and others I don't recall right now).

With that said, I will mention that the same weather conditions that gave us such a productive trip on that date have been present for the last week, and the east-southeast winds will continue to push currents, weedlines, and baitfish towards the western edge of the gulfstream. And of course, the birds will follow. I encourage everyone to make an effort to get out there soon. As for me, the birth of my second daughter will keep me on land for a while, but not too long I hope. Watch, Larry will probably find that Albatross I've been waiting for on Saturday! Get out there folks, pelagics rock!
