This may not help in the I.D. of the tropicbird because the quality is not that good. Here are two video clips of Red-billed Tropicbirds from Barbuda that I took.

Trey's post showing the primary feathers may be the way to I.D. it correctly, although while looking at Brian Patterson website, there is a photo of an immature White-tailed Tropicbird where the primaries look black. Perhaps the photo is not good enough to see the primaries well enough. Go to Brian's website: http://www.patteson.com/images/wttr2-27.jpg copy and past or when you get to the home page look for image gallery on the left and then tropicbirds. Look at the photo of a juvenile dorsal view.
