Once again Captain Toe "The Birdinator" took us for another ride offshore
looking for some Year or Planet birds. No Mockingbirds or Atala Hairstreaks out
where we were. It was a lot of fun with the huge cast of characters. No
one heaved over the side in the fairly choppy waters and everyone was kept
entertained the good numbers of birds and the tremendous variety. I ended up
with 4 year birds, two of which were life birds.
The best thing about the trip was that the Captain picked up a Planet bird
himself. He has been out may times this year helping others add to their list,
but for his birthday (which was last Saturday) he picked up a White-tailed
Tropicbird as a Planet Bird.
I encourage those of you who haven't done any offshore pelagic birding, it is
a must.
Larry the "Man" Manfredi has
a trip scheduled for Saturday July 15 coming up. His last trip was very
productive also, so make some time and get out there and enjoy watching these
amazing ocean going birds.
