Calm weather and being caught-up with work meant an impromtu pelagics trip was on the agenda. I had the real treat of being joined by Raul "Rock Jetty" Urguelles, Alexander "Trey" Mitchell, and Larry "Larry" Manfredi. Fowey Rocks lighthouse had three Brown Boobies, with two being very nice full adults. Only other birds here were cormorants, frigatebirds, and royal terns. Heading offshore we soon found another Brown Boobie along with a few Sooty and Bridles Terns. We fished a weedline in 687 feet of water and caught three nice dolphin, but only saw the occasional Bridled and Sooty Tern. We tried deeper water but soon headed back shallower. We found a Band-rumped Storm Petrel in about 800 feet, then another a little shallower. We got excellent looks at the second, which showed us its distinctive shearwater-like flight. Heading back to the dock, we found a pair of Wilson's Storm Petrels inside of 100 feet of water, and had a great opportunity to compare them to the previously seen Band-rumped. Both Trey and Larry got photos of these little guys. Birding could have been a little better, but it was a beautiful morning and we had a great time. The morning's short list:

Band-ruumped Storm Petrel (2)
Wilson's Storm Petrel (2)
Brown Booby (4)
Sooty Tern (~15)
Bridled Tern (~20)
Magnificent Frigatebird (a few offshore, but many by the marina)
Royal Tern (20)
Least Tern
