Picture taken at the Elk Refuge, Teton County, Jackson hole Wyoming, April 22, 2006.
Now that's a first for me and according to the staff at the Elk Refuge ( Wyoming Fish and Game) a first for them.
The bird displayed the usual lawn hunting routine with short runs and spread wings, sang periodically (but received no response---surprise?) The temperature was 28 degrees. The bird seemed to fit in with the robins, red-wings and many finches and was successful in pulling up some worms that were abundant.
What a nice experience, seeing a "homey" in Wyoming.
