Shorebird and tern numbers are increasing here on Key Biscayne. Most interesting today is a conservative estimate of 300-325 Least Terns, including young. This is almost double the number counted on Friday. Other terns were Royal and Sandwich. Also of interest: Black Skimmer, Reddish Egret, Sanderling (very few now with any breeding plumage), Ruddy Turnstone, Semipalmated, Wilson's and Piping Plovers.
There was a moderate swallow flight over the Key this morning between 8-9 AM.
