Wilson's Phalaropes, White-rumped Sandpiper, Shiny Cowbird; Lower Keys

This afternoon there were two WILSON'S PHALAROPES (male and female) in the flooded area at the west end of the Marathon Airport. This is the typical flooded area that is mentioned in Pranty. There was also one WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPER along with a handful of other less interesting shorebirds.

Also of note this morning, one male SHINY COWBIRD (singing) in a yard on Watson Ave on Big Pine Key. I didn't note the address, but it was west of the intersection with Ave A where Watson turns toward No Name Key. The yard is on the west side of a canal and north of Watson Ave. There was a bird bath out front and a I believe a feeder. I was acting as driver for my wife's Breeding Bird Survey, so I couldn't linger.
