Sorry for the late post. Yesterday, 20+ individuals carpooled around the northeast cell at STA-5 and saw some nice birds despite most of the migrants having left south Florida. An unexpected surprise for most of us was seeing six species of ducks. Three new species were added to the STA-5 checklist as well. STA-5 will be open to birding on the following dates during the summer:
June 24th
July 29th
Inclement weather may cause the cancellation of birding on those dates, however. . . .

One final note. . . . In a wetland, near the intersection of CR833 & CR835 in Hendry County, Alan Murray, Pat Gladstone, Is Gotti, Lea Brennan, Gary Patterson & myself found 28 Sandhill Cranes, 4 or 5 Limpkins and a half-dozen Swallow-tailed Kites. I've not seen that many Sandhill Cranes in one place in Florida. Pretty neat.
