Yesterday, going to the Homestead racetrack spot, I saw some good mud and water on side of Kingman Dr. The racetrack had a lot of Cattle Egret, BN Stilts and Paectoral Sandpipers poped-up when my door slamed (the grass doesn't allow much view.
I stop on my way back (from the racetrack spot to US1, south on Kingman Dr about 1/2 mile from Canal Dr on this construction area by the largest paddles). Found there a lot of sandpipers: Least, Pectoral, Solitary and Stilt SPs (one in full breeding plumage), at least Lesser Yellowlegs, BN Stilts for sure. Also Moorhen, Little Blue Heron, Snowy and Great Egrets. The light in afternoon (I was there by 5h30-6h PM) is bad and didn't allow some IDs and had me starting to see Lesser Yellowlegs as Wilson's Phalarope... So I would say, go there in the morning. Parking is on nice grass but nobody told me anything the time I spent there. I guess it is OK. It isn't as quiet as the retention areas of "Super"Man-fredi marsh and doesn't have all of the Mottleds, Ibises and Spoonbills (some people I work with even have seen 2 - probably escapes- White-cheeked Pintail there) that you can find there but it is worse it.
Have a nice week-end.
Florian.
