I believe it's a watersnake. I have seen large banded watersnakes that are that brightly patterned.
Regarding pythons, a friend who lives just south of downtown Miami (in The Roads area) recently told me he found a huge Burmese Python checking out his house recently. He pulled into his drive late at night and saw a python "at least 10 ft long" moving along the edge of his house. At one point it raised its head and took a look inside the lighted front window. He said it was about 6 in. in diameter. He followed the snake as it rounded the corner and grabbed its tail, only to have it jerked from his hand when the snake figured out what he was doing. He was about to go for an ax, but his girlfriend was scared and upset, so he just let it go.
