Went to Cape Florida this morning to try and find a Connecticut Warbler. I
saw a large warbler on a low branch (6" off the ground) fairly plain with a
grayish head and a distinct white eye ring. It was yellow underneath, but not
bright yellow. I only saw the bird for a few seconds before it flew and not seen
again. I had hoped to see one on the ground since a Connecticut Warbler is
suppose to walk, but that didn't happen. Looking at Sibley's it could have been
a Connecticut or Mourning. I am sure I am missing some other option so I would
like input.
I saw this morning:
BT Blue (35)
Common Yellow Throat (60)
Prairie (8)
Black Poll ( 30)
Cape May (20)
Black and White (10)
Chestnut-sided (female - Yellow wing bars and beautiful green back and a little
rufous on flanks)
Northern Parula (6)
Magnolia (2)
Palm (12)
Red Start (25)
Worm-eating (3)
Ovenbird (1)
Blue-winged (probable) very briefly seen but had yellow head and black streak
through eye
Connecticut - Mourning ??? what do you think?
I knew the morning was much better than I thought it would be, but it turned
out to be a really was a good morning. The birds were not cooperative though,
they moved around a lot and quickly. I couldn't get very close to most of the
birds. Oh well, I'm glad I'm not freaking out about not getting pictures of
every bird I see this year. :)
I ran into a photographer friend from Kansas, Judd. I hope he post a few photos
also...
Female Black Throated Blue
Female Bobolink
Female Cape May
Cape May
Female Cape May
Yellow Billed Cuckoo
???
