Using what you may have you can take a photo with a digital camera and binoculars. I have seen fairly good photos taken this way.
Place the binoculars in front of the digital camera and line up the shot. Take a few photos and hopefully one will be good enough to use for identification.
If you have a high end digital camera set the camera on the highest quality setting take a photo. Chances are you can blow up the image enoug to be able to ID the bird.
Or you can go out an buy a $1000 Digital SLR and a telephoto lens.
The last option will offer the best photos, but is costly and usually more complicated...
