Hi, I have a large colony of nesting boat tailed grackles in my front & back yard & throughout the rest of my area & for some reason the babies, once they leave the nest & hang around on the ground near the parents a few days, die. Despite the good care from their parents (who squawk & dive-bomb us or the cat if we get too near) the babies eventually die before they take flight. A Neighbor & I have noticed four dead babies this year already. They seem very healthy before they die, just today we saw one alive this morning & by afternoon it was dead. Does anyone know what may be going on? is it sickness or disease?
