I woke up this morning a little earlier this morning knowing the west winds last night could produce a fallout. I got up as the Northern Cardinals began to sing and was out the door. I walked around my immediate area, then decided to head over to the Miami Shores Country Club to check out what was on the golf course. First thing I noticed was a lot of warblers above flying west. I saw over a hundred doing this throughout the morning.
Great Egret- several heading north
Northern Harrier- my first for Miami Shores
Broad-winged Hawk
American Kestrel- late male
Yellow-billed Cuckoo- two in same binocular view
White-winged Parakeet- many
Chestnut-fronted Macaw- several
Common Nighthawk
Chumney Swift- many
Barn Swallow
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher- big surprise; another late bird
Gray Catbird- ten
Northern Parula
Yellow Warbler
Cape May Warbler- two nice males
Black-throated Blue Warbler
Prairie Warbler- easily over fifty
Palm Warbler
Black-and-white Warbler
American Redstart
Worm-eating Warbler
Ovenbird
Northern Waterthrush
Summer Tanager
Bunting species
You can bet I will be birding again this afternoon
