Spent an hour this morning trying to relocate the Black-Throated Gray Warbler in the area around the bathrooms south of the main entrance to Matheson Hammock. Rounded up the usual suspects that it normally associates with such as Blue-headed Vireo, Yellow-throated Vireo, Yellow-rumped Warblers and Blue-gray Gnatcatchers but no Black-throated Gray. However I did locate a the female Wilson's Warbler previosly reported by John Boyd last year on the muddy path south of where the lake ends along the stone wall just north of Fairchild Tropical Gardens. It responded to my vocalization of a Screech Owl as did a Screech Owl and was feeding low on both sides of the path in Red Mangroves and Brazilian Peppers. An American Redstart female joined her.If anybody has a recent report on the Ash-throated Flycatcher at Gumbo Limbo Nature Center in Boca Raton please e-mail me direct at pbithorn@plumbers519.com, call me on my cell at 305-216-2626 or put it on FLORIDABIRDS-L. Will try again Saturday morning if bird is still around.
