This morning in Tokyo, I picked up Great Tit, Coal Tit, Indian Tree Pipit, White Wagtail, Gray Heron, Herring Gull and Mew Gull. Not bad for an artificially maintained hotel garden and city park.
On the shore here is a one-third-size Statue of Liberty, backed up by the Rainbow Bridge, a suspension bridge that's a dead ringer for the Golden Gate. All the interpretive signs are in Japanese, so I can't be sure what the S of L is supposed to signify. It's nice to see these little touches of America, though -- sort of a weird East Coast/West Coast vibe in a place you'd never expect it.
