There were 12 Merlins today (10 yesterday) in Bill Baggs Cape Florida SP. They were perched by 2's and 3's yesterday, but scattered throughout the park today. I counted only perched falcons and from Pond 5 (south end), 5 were seen at the same time. The traditional raptor perches were destroyed by Wilma, but leafless Strangler Figs seem to be good alternatives.
Also of interest: Broad-winged Hawk; Peregrine Falcon; White-crowned Pigeon; Yellow-billed Cuckoo; FOS Black-whiskered Vireo; Blue-headed Vireo (3); Barn and Northern Rough-winged Swallows; Painted Bunting (2); and 8 warbler species, including FOS gorgeous male Cape May ($), Worm-eating (6) and 43 Prairie, minus 1 Merlin snack.
