But the Coopers hawk tail is very narrow compared to the one I saw. That rules Cooper out. The way I assess the situation is to wait: if it stays or comes back it will be moving from juvenile plummage to adultm and that should help on the ident. And if it leaves, then I don't have to worry about it anymore and I'll file it with my "unsolved mysteries of animalizing" as the late Alan Devoe would say. (This Fascinating Animal world).
