Don't forget, Saturday, May 9th is the inaugural GLOBAL BIG DAY, when eBird and the Cornell Lab of Ornithology hope to engage a worldwide network of birders to go out, count birds, and support global bird conservation. The goal is to have over 4,000 species of birds reported to eBird in a single calendar day, and to raise $500,000 for bird conservation.

All you have to do to help is go birding! You don t need to commit to 24 hours of birding on May 9th: a short visit to your favorite location or even a few minutes in your yard is still a meaningful contribution! This is a chance for South Florida to shine - we can contribute Red-whiskered Bulbul, Spot-breasted Oriole, Purple Swamphen, "Cape Sable" Seaside Sparrow, Shiny Cowbird, White-crowned Pigeon and other specialties. We can also use our parakeets and parrots. Dry Tortugas and Keys birders will add some nice goodies. Good luck everyone!
