The May monthly bird walk at Tall Cypress Natural Area in Coral Springs is scheduled for this Sunday, May 10 beginning at 7:30am.
Additional details and directions at the link below.

Early May is historically very good and there is plenty of water back in the park. This past Sunday, a small group of birders was treated to a 'game' being played between a young Sharp-shinned Hawk and the Nanday Parakeets. The hawk would charge the group of parakeets which would take off screaming after the hawk, then circle around and land back on the same perch at which point the hawk would then repeat the process. This went on for several cycles.
The young Great Horned Owl is quickly losing its remaining white fluff and although it still sticks pretty close to mom, it probably won't be long before it has to leave for good. They grow up so fast.
Afterwards, some of us will likely head out to see the Least Tern nesting colony in Parkland. There are currently about 30 nesting pairs. With luck, we'll also get some unusual shorebirds.
