Last night while in the immediate vicinity of Barry University in Miami Shores, I spotted a Burrowing Owl sitting near it's burrow. These birds have been seen on-and-off beside the faculty/student parkinglot along the west side of NW 2nd Avenue, just north of (I believe) 113th street. Look for the birds burrow, which is surrounded by five or six cones. Hopefully the birds will successfully breed. These birds have been here at least since the spring of 2004, but have been moved around a couple times because of the universities new buildings. I only saw one bird, but hopefully it has a mate.

I have also seen Burrowing Owls in the past along NW 119 street west of I-95. They still may be around Miami Dade Community College, Opa Locka Airport, the Hialeah-Miami Lakes High School ball fields, and elsewhere in the area. These colonies are only a few miles from Barry University as the Fish Crow flys.
