Tortugas Report: Timing is Everything

My friend Webb from SC was down here with John from CA and they went to the Tortugas from Wed to Thur. They timed it perfectly (actually, they got lucky) since that's when we had those rains move in from the Gulf. There tally tells it all:

24 Warbler Species, including Townsend's, Bay-breasted (in breeding), Hooded, Kentucky... Big numbers of some species. Missing were both Golden and Blue-winged.

4 Thrush species, in good numbers
2 Grosbeak species, also in good numbers
2 Tanager species

They missed the Red-footed Booby, but Larry got them on the Black Noddies. No Roseate Terns on the pilings.

It's obvious location is everything during migration, and we definitely don't have it here in Dade County! These birds completely missed us this spring.
