I birded KIH for 1 hour this morning. Has been better than usual this month but still not an abundance of birds. All 8 warbler species were seen at western end of park:
Blackpoll Warbler - 3 males
American Redstart - 2 males and 1 female
Palm Warbler - 2
Cape May Warbler - 1 female
Ovenbird - 1
Prairie Warbler - 3 (1 was singing)
N. Parula - 3
Black-throated Blue Warbler - 3 males and 1 female
Later had breakfast in the Sweetwater area and saw my FOS Gray Kingbird and also saw a Spot-breasted Oriole near Flagler and
SW 97 Ave.
My brother was at Kendall Indian Hammocks yesterday and had some interesting reptiles. He photographed a Gopher Tortoise which I am sure someone released there. Also photographed was a Puerto Rican Crested Anole, which I have seen before occasionally there. Both Brown and Green Basilisks were seen. I have only seen a dead Green Basilisk at the park before, the brown ones are commonly seen. He also took a pic of a large green dragonfly which had caught a Buckeye butterfly, a species I have yet to see at the park.
Near work, in Kendall, I had a Curly-tailed Lizard, my first for Kendall.
Last Tuesday I had 3 Blue-and-yellow Macaws flying at night (at about 8:15 PM) heading east over US1 and Bird Rd.
