Hi Brent,

Your bird is MUCH more likely a Spot-breasted Oriole; these birds are often misidentified by TAS posters as Scott's, Hooded, or Altamira (Audubon's) orioles. They're permanent residents of Fort Lauderdale (and elsewhere along the Atlantic Coastal Ridge).

However, RJ is wrong in one respect; there is one record of a Hooded Oriole in Florida (October 2002), but it was from the western Panhandle. There is no peninsular record of Hooded Oriole, although ths _may remotely_ be the time to see one in Florida.

But again, yor bird is much more likely a Spot-breasted.
