It was a tough day in that there were few Neotropic migrants and therefore few highlights

Our list was 109 species with 4 other taxa.

I guess best birds in grassland all the regular birds like meadow larks , savannah sparrow, caracara and abundant bobwhite calling. Shorebirds like short billed dowitcher and both yellowlegs.

Wading marsh birds we basically ran the table so to speak. Including Neotropic comorant at Wackodahatchee . Also a nice solitary sand piper.

Our ocean drive picked up birds like frigate bird and gannet and five shorebirds. Two spot breasted oriole flew right in front of us and Russ as we were driving spotted a peregrine on a 15 story high rise . I pulled over locked up and just said, " damn Russ how did you spot that"

We celebrated our exhausting day with martini s and Chinese food at my house as per our tradition.. We sat outside late listening for migrants and great horned owl.. All in vane , so we drank a couple more martini s and Russ and his husband Al were relegated to my guest room for the night
