Cutler Wetlands (04/14)

Troy Corman and I paid a visit to Cutler Wetlands today. Water levels are really low right now, exposing mudflats that are ideal for small shorebirds as their migration picks up. We recorded the following:

Black-necked Stilt: 39
Greater Yellowlegs: 2
Lesser Yellowlegs: 2
Stilt Sandpiper: 3
Least Sandpiper: 12
Long-billed Dowitcher: 31

Two Northern Harriers made regular passes at the shorebirds, reshuffling the birds several times. A Least Tern made a brief stop before taking off again.

A kettle of vultures overhead included a Red-shouldered Hawk and an adult Bald Eagle.
