Visited Fairchild Gardens today. First 30 minutes after sunrise yielded the best birds (these were seen before Fairchild opened in the Fairchild Parking lot/parts of Matheson near Fairchild). Highlights were
Cape May Warbler: 2 adult males in full breeding plumage
Black-Throated Blue Warbler: male
Northern Parula: Female
Black & White warbler: 2 Female & Male
The best bird of the day was a Prothonotary Warbler seen right after sunrise at about 7:20 AM. I brought it in pishing, and had excellent looks as it preened. It was seen on an oak tree near the gift shop of Fairchild. I alerted the birders who lead the walks every Sunday morning and we went out to look for it together but we did not find it. Bird activity for the rest of the day was very slow except for two flyby Black-Necked Stilts.
