I have been finding Limpkins for years in Broward County on some of the fresh water lakes and canals. I have also seen many, many Limpkins in Palm Beach County along the canals and ponds for many, many years. All you have to do is drive down the turnpike in Palm Beach County and look on top of the canal banks on either side of the turnpike for Limpkins sitting there. You will also see Wood Stork and in some years, Snail Kite!

In Broward County one of their favorite food is freshwater clams. They look like the Razor Clams that I used to see in California. Most of the ones I have seen are in suburban areas, some show up in Miami/Dade county also in suburban areas. I have seen the ones in Miami/Dade county eating the imported Cuban Garden Snail! Limpkins in the Florida Keys are not too common but they too eat Cuban Garden Snails.

Now that we are in Spring, the birds are far more active and easier to see!
