Roger Hammer gave the best statement about Bananaquits in the Caribbean: "They're a weed. If you throw a rock in any direction, you're sure to hit one." I don't know if that's exactly true, but I have seen them on just about every Caribbean Island I've been on, and while looking for birds in Colombia, among the many others I found, there was a Bananaquit! They look a little different down there, much darker.
