It's been 120 hrs since I've posted here (sounds longer than saying 5 days).
On to birding business, shall we?
Went to GREEN CAY today on the first day of Spring (double checked with Siri) and had 50 birds (ebird report filed). The highlight today was a sub-adult male Rose-breasted Grosbeak that was feasting on some red berries. Interesting to note that the berries could be the cause of that patch on their breast:)- as if the bird was a messy eater. This is the earliest I have seen one (usually see them in early April)
. A few more warblers present but nothing too impressive to mention. Though I have to say that more of them are beginning to sing since Spring has officially started.

After Green Cay I paid a visit to PEACEFUL WATERS in Wellington and came across 4 Bronzed Cowbirds. I know. Not big deal to some or many of you but I don't usually see these birds like other blackbirds in the state. I thought that some of them were actually sub-adult Red-winged Blackbirds without the red and yellow on their wings. There were 3 males and a single female. Male's eyes were not red but orange still. Birds were emitting their gurgling sounds. They were perched by the fence near the entrance of the wetland. The report on ebird was also filed in Palm Beach County. There were a lot of Stilt Sandpipers, Lesser Yellowlegs, and Long-billed Dowitchers ( dozens to one hundred in numbers) at least in the early afternoon while I was there for an hour.
Happy Spring birding to you,
Marcello
