As Larry already pointed out, the bird in the recording is not a Field Sparrow. I was about to retract this post when I saw that he beat me to the correction. I apologize for this.
I went back this morning to try and get a visual on the bird, and was successful. However, it was a Prairie Warbler singing the song in the recording.
I grew up with breeding Field Sparrows and still believe that this song does closely match a Field Sparrow song that would be common on the breeding grounds. Here is a xeno canto recording of Field Sparrow: http://www.xeno-canto.org/167935
It just highlights, to me, the variability in song and I will definitely keep this learning experience in my back pocket in the future.
At any rate, I do apologize for the misidentification, and thank Larry for pointing that out.
