Hi everyone,
You thought I had forgotten to post something worthwhile. Wait no more. Had a La Sagra's Flycatcher at Green Cay yesterday. I heard the "whit". Thought it was a Great Crested Flycatcher for a moment (the default expectation for the area as they return from migration - Miami-Dade included possibly). The bird turned its head and I saw the light gray colors on throat and not a strong lemony-yellow like a GCFL. The bird had two white bars contrasting dark brown primaries with rufous edging. Tail was long and dark with rufous edging. Having seen La Sagra's on a few occasions in the past (including the one a Green Cay a couple years ago that stayed on for over two months) I am confident on my assessment. The La Sagra's was feasting on some fruits/berries in the wooded area. Short 1/2 mile path straight across to the back and then turn right (same location where an Eastern Whip-Poor Will was found last year). I was able to manage a couple of sweet shots on the bird before it flew back into the woods. Was great while it lasted.
I had some other treats that you may be interested in seeing it.
I gotta run but enjoy the views.
Marcello
