If you would like to report your notable winter (Dec. 1-Feb. 28) bird sightings from SE Florida (Monroe, Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach Counties) for possible inclusion in Florida Field Naturalist & North American Birds, now is the time to do so. I will accept reports via email through March 18. The focus of the quarterly report is on rare birds and other interesting sightings (unusual numbers, interesting behavior, etc). Sightings of exotics are also accepted. If you are unsure whether your sighting qualifies, please send it anyway.
Please send your report to me at: robin@tropicalaudubon.org
1. List the birds in taxonomic order (Sibley or NGS order is fine).
2. The following information is needed for each sighting: SPECIES, NUMBER of INDIVIDUALS, AGE and SEX OF THE BIRD (if known), COLOR MORPH (if applicable), LOCATION (including COUNTY), DATE, OBSERVERS.
3. Please include a description or photo of the bird(s) for significant rarities. A report with both photo and description is preferred.
4. Note that not all reports submitted will appear in FFN or NAB.
5. The following warbler species are considered normal in winter: Orange-crowned Warbler, Northern Parula, Magnolia Warbler, Cape May Warbler, Black-throated Blue Warbler, Myrtle Warbler, Black-throated Green Warbler, Yellow-throated Warbler, Pine Warbler, Prairie Warbler, Palm Warbler, Black-and-white Warbler, American Redstart, Worm-eating Warbler, Ovenbird, Northern Waterthrush, Common Yellowthroat.
6. Plain text is preferred but if you need to use Word, send it as such.
Thanks for your help.
