This is what Mark McShane posted on Birdbrains:
"We were out at Flamingo in Everglades National Park this afternoon and I was scanning south across the water from the restroom by the amphitheater towards Murray Key and picked up a goose flying east a bit less than half way out to the key.
I was pretty surprised to see a goose there, the bird was flying fast, very low, and direct, I followed it east for a minute or two, and then it turned southeast going away from me and headed directly for the west end of Murray Key. Even at 82mm and 75x the image rapidly fell apart as the goose got over a mile and a half out in the heat distortion and then I lost the bird as it neared Murray Key.
When it was closest to me, and crossing my T heading east, the bird appeared to have a small bill, very solid black head, black neck, and black breast, with dark upperparts. I could not see the underparts very well at the range. This goose also had white tail coverts with a black tail.
If anyone is down at Flamingo you may want to scan around for this bird, I hesitate to call the bird a possible Brant but the field marks I observed appeared to be consistent with that call even at the long range and in the lighting conditions."
If anyone goes down there you may want to keep an eye out, but I would rather one turns up here in the County. Already got that for Monroe. Is every good bird turning up in Monroe this year too?
