A sighting--of sorts. Unfortunately of illustrations of murdered and stuffed birds, by the namesake of this organization.
If you have never seen the actual prints from one of the elephant folios of John James Audubon's Birds of America, the next few months offer everyone a chance to see all the prints simultaneously on view from the History Miami Museum's edition--a rarer event than a kew west quail dove sighting in South Florida.No reproduction of these prints that I have ever seen comes close to approximating the vibrancy and impact of these giant, nearly 200 year old works of art.The event opens this weekend and is, I'd think, a necessary visit for birders or anyone interested in America's natural history.
