Sprague's are very particular about their habitat preference. They won't be in a variety of open habitats like Horned Lark or American Pipits. In Florida, they are almost exclusively at the Apalachicola Regional Airport, several off-limits air strips at Eglin Air Force Base, and one patch at the Okaloosa County landfill in Ft. Walton Beach because they have the appropriate grass species and composition.

Try to pick out a longspur in these flocks instead!
