There is a nice article on the birds and birding at the Hendry County STA-5 (Storm Treatment Area #5) in today's Ft. Myer's News-Press. You can read the article here:

There is still room for this coming Saturday's birding opportunity at STA-5. The SFWMD will be conducting a video shoot on the birds and birders who visit STA-5. If you want to bird this great area and be in a video, come on out. Please let Margaret England know that you are coming though. Contact her at:

Once you're on that page, there are hyperlinks to maps and directions etc. to STA-5.

The water levels are down at STA-5 making for some good shorebird habitat. Perhaps we'll have another Ruff or some other rarity there like we did several years ago?
